BRIEF HISTORY OF THIS NEW PROJECT
The trombone is commonly recognized as a clumsy, outdated and rather humorous instrument but professional trombonist, composer, and educator Darren Kramer is now transforming it into a sophisticated 21st century sound device. After 30 years of studying many styles of music including classical, jazz, funk, pop and salsa, Kramer has recently brought this archaic instrument into the modern age by combining today’s cutting-edge technology with his innovative “electric trombone” rig. Kramer has not only created 18 new fascinating compositions, he has simultaneously created a new niche for himself in this highly competitive contemporary market. This unique solo project is a compelling interactive performance which also serves as a special creative outlet allowing Kramer to utilize all of his primary skills and interests: trombone, keyboards, improvisation, composition and technology.

“Creating Music With Computers”, or more specifically
"Performing, Recording & Composing Using Computer Software Ableton "LIVE", Propellerhead "REASON" & Apple “GARAGE BAND”, is the latest trend influencing many aspects of the music business. Kramer now performs his original music with his innovative electric trombone and laptop to spontaneously develop a mix of jazz and beats into well-crafted compositions.
Utilizing not only pre-programmed sequences and loops (drum, keyboard, vocal and even trombone loops) which Kramer can trigger at anytime via his MIDI keyboard and foot controller, Kramer actually records instrumental loops "live"' on the fly and then morphs them in real time with high-tech effects to create mindblowing sounds and fascinating textures.
POWER POINT PRESENTATION
Learning is a process that is fun and easy when the material is presented in a simple and methodic manner while simultaneously engaging several of the human senses. Therefore, not only will the audienceHEAR Kramer PLAY & SPEAK about how he creates his music, they will also SEE everything on a large screen behind him (via LCD Projector) as he simultaneously presents an informative Power Point Presentation which displays informative slides as well as continuous “behind the scenes” visual access of the music software in action while Kramer performs each song. Kramer also demonstrates the power of “LIVE” software with an entertaining and captivating segment of the performance where he records voices and sounds from the audience and then proceeds to loop and warp them into a complete song…right there on the spot!...giving some audience members the opportunity to HEAR & FEEL what it’s like to create music from their own VOICE & HANDS!
Q&A SESSION
The audience will also be given an opportunity to ask questions concerning ANY aspect of the presentation including how the loops were made, how a song is composed, how to create a power point presentation, etc.
